Data Accuracy and Liability Disclaimer
Read this first. Daily AI Toll publishes claims about named companies, products, and workforce changes that are compiled from third-party sources and processed with automated (large language model) tools. This disclaimer explains what the Data is, what it is not, how it may be wrong, and how to get errors corrected. By using the Site or the Data, you accept the terms below.
1. What Daily AI Toll is
Daily AI Toll is a running, best-effort record of publicly reported instances in which artificial intelligence is described as replacing, reducing, or displacing human work — across jobs, teams, products, companies, revenue, and labor hours. Each entry is intended to link back to a publicly available source and to include an excerpt, a causality assessment, and a numeric confidence score.
Daily AI Toll is a compilation and characterization of third-party reporting. It is not original investigative journalism, it is not an audit, and it is not a certification of any fact about any company or person.
2. How the Data is produced (and why that matters)
Entries are generated through an automated pipeline that uses large language models ("LLMs") to search public sources, extract candidate events, summarize them, assign a causality category, and assign a confidence score. Some entries receive human review; many do not, or receive only limited review.
Automated language models are known to make mistakes. They can:
- misread or misattribute a source;
- summarize a source inaccurately or out of context;
- combine facts from different sources incorrectly;
- infer a cause (such as "AI") that the underlying source did not actually state;
- state a number, date, company name, or job count that is wrong; and
- present all of the above with apparent confidence. You should assume that any individual entry may contain one or more errors of these kinds.
3. Confidence scores are estimates, not assertions of fact
Each entry may carry a numeric "confidence score" (for example, on a 0.0–1.0 scale). This score is an internal, automated estimate of how well-supported the entry appeared to be at the time it was generated, based on factors such as source type and corroboration. It is:
- not a probability in any statistical sense;
- not a warranty, guarantee, rating, or certification;
- not an assertion that the underlying event is true;
- not professional, legal, financial, employment, or investment advice; and
- not a statement that any named company did, or did not, take any particular action. A high confidence score means only that the automated process found the item comparatively well-sourced. It does not make the item true. A low score does not make it false.
4. Causality labels are characterizations of what sources reported
Each entry may carry a causality label (for example: direct, contributing, inferred, or unclear). These labels describe how the underlying source(s) characterized the role of AI, as interpreted by the automated pipeline. They are editorial characterizations of reporting, not independent findings of fact and not accusations against any company. In particular, an "inferred" label expressly signals that no source directly attributed the event to AI and that the connection is an estimate.
5. No warranty of accuracy or completeness
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Site and the Data are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We specifically disclaim any warranty that the Data is accurate, current, complete, verified, reliable, without errors, or fit for any particular purpose. We do not warrant that any source URL will remain live, that any excerpt faithfully reflects its source, that any number is correct, or that any company, product, or event is correctly identified or characterized.
The Data is a snapshot of automated processing of third-party reporting at a point in time. Sources change, get corrected, or are retracted; our record may lag, omit, or misstate those changes.
6. Do not rely on the Data as a sole basis for decisions
You must not use the Data as the sole basis for any decision, and you must independently verify any entry before relying on it. This includes, without limitation, decisions relating to:
- investing, trading, or valuing any company or security;
- employment, hiring, firing, or personnel matters;
- credit, lending, insurance, or procurement;
- journalism or publication (you are responsible for independently confirming any fact you republish); and
- any legal, regulatory, or reputational action concerning any company or person. The appropriate use of the Data is as a starting point for further research: a pointer to primary sources that you then verify yourself.
7. References to named companies, products, and people
Daily AI Toll references named third parties because it summarizes public reporting about them. To reduce the risk that entries are read as unfounded accusations, our stated practice is:
- Source-anchored. Each entry is intended to be tied to a publicly available source and to reflect what that source reported, rather than an independent conclusion of our own.
- Reporting, not adjudication. Entries describe what sources have said. They are not findings that any company engaged in any wrongdoing, and nothing on the Site should be read as an allegation of illegal, improper, or bad-faith conduct by any named party.
- Characterization is labeled as such. Causality labels and confidence scores are presented as estimates and characterizations, per Sections 3 and 4, not as verified fact.
- Neutral framing. The project's stated purpose is to record publicly reported workforce impacts, not to disparage, boycott, or campaign against any company, product, or individual. Company, product, and organization names, logos, and trademarks referenced on the Site are the property of their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply any endorsement of, affiliation with, or sponsorship by those owners. Nothing in this section is a representation that every entry is accurate. It describes our intended sourcing practice; individual entries may still be wrong and are subject to the corrections process below.
8. Corrections process
We want the record to be as accurate as possible and we will review good-faith correction requests.
If you are the subject of an entry (or their representative), a source, or any reader who believes an entry is inaccurate, incomplete, out of context, or based on a source that has since been corrected or retracted:
- Email [email protected] with the subject line "Correction request."
- Include, if you can: the entry identifier or a link to it; the specific statement you believe is inaccurate; and any source, document, or explanation supporting the correction. What we will do: We will review timely, good-faith requests and, where we agree a correction is warranted, we may update, annotate, contextualize, or remove the entry, and (where applicable) recalculate affected totals. Consistent with maintaining an auditable record, corrections may be handled by adding a correcting entry or annotation rather than silently deleting history. We aim to review correction requests promptly but do not guarantee any specific response time or outcome. Submitting a request does not create any contract, and our review does not waive any right or defense. This corrections process is the fastest and preferred path to resolving accuracy concerns and is offered in addition to, not instead of, any rights you may have under applicable law.
9. No professional advice; no relationship
The Site and the Data do not constitute legal, financial, investment, accounting, tax, employment, or other professional advice, and using them does not create any advisory, fiduciary, or professional relationship between you and Daily AI Toll.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Daily AI Toll and its operators, contributors, and agents will not be liable for any loss or damage arising out of or relating to your use of, or reliance on, the Site or the Data, including any errors, omissions, mischaracterizations, or outdated entries. The limitations and exclusions in the Terms of Service apply in full to this disclaimer.
11. Changes
We may update this disclaimer at any time. Material changes will be reflected by a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Site or the Data after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated disclaimer.
