Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Daily AI Toll, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Site or making a purchase, you agree to this Policy.
We keep the Site lean and collect as little personal information as we reasonably can.
1. Who we are
Daily AI Toll operates the website at dailyaitoll.com and offers patron tiers and data licenses through it. For any privacy question or request, contact [email protected].
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Email address — when you make a purchase (patron tier or data license), so we can send a receipt and, for data licenses, a download or access link. It may also be collected if you email us.
- Correspondence — the contents of messages you send us (for example, support questions or correction requests) and any information you choose to include.
- Patron recognition details (optional) — if a patron tier includes public recognition, the name, link, and any description you ask us to display on the patrons page. This information is displayed publicly at your request; do not submit anything you do not want shown publicly.
2.2 Payment information (handled by Stripe)
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not collect or store your full payment card number. Stripe collects and processes your payment details directly and provides us with limited, purchase-related information such as a transaction/receipt identifier, the amount, the product/tier purchased, the last four digits and card brand, and the billing email or name. Your payment is subject to Stripe's own privacy policy and terms. See <https://stripe.com/privacy>.
2.3 Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our hosting and infrastructure providers (for example, our web host and DNS/CDN provider) may automatically log standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, referring page, pages viewed, and timestamps. This is used for security, abuse prevention, and basic operation. We aim to keep analytics minimal; if we use any analytics or cookies beyond what is strictly necessary, we will describe them here and, where required, request consent.
2.4 Campaign tags and checkout records
If you arrive through a link that carries campaign tags (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content or ref), your browser keeps those tags in session storage for 30 minutes, in that tab only; no cookie is set and nothing is sent to a third party. If you then buy, the tags are attached to your Stripe checkout record so we can tell which campaign led to the purchase. When you tick the box agreeing to the Terms and the Refund Policy before checkout, the time of that agreement is stored with the same Stripe record.
2.5 Cookies
The Site aims to use only cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for it to function and for completing checkout. We do not use the Site to build advertising profiles of you. If this changes, this Policy and any required consent mechanism will be updated first.
3. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- process your purchase and deliver what you bought (receipts, and download/access links for data licenses);
- provide the patron recognition you requested (if applicable);
- respond to your messages, support requests, and correction requests;
- operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Site and detect and prevent fraud or abuse;
- keep records of transactions and licenses; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Data License. We rely on the following legal bases where applicable law (such as the GDPR) requires one: performance of a contract (processing your purchase and providing access), our legitimate interests (operating and securing the Site, preventing abuse, and public patron recognition you requested), your consent (any optional/public display and any non-essential cookies), and compliance with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Who we share information with
We share personal information only with:
- Service providers ("processors") who help us run the Site, under agreements that limit their use of the information to providing services to us — for example:
- Stripe (payment processing),
- our web hosting provider,
- our DNS / CDN provider, and
- our email provider (for receipts and correspondence).
- Legal and safety recipients — if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, users, or the public, or to enforce our Terms.
- A successor — if the project or its assets are transferred, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
5. Public information
Note that the Daily AI Toll dataset itself is about companies, products, and publicly reported workforce events; it is compiled from public sources and is not a repository of your personal purchasing information. Any patron recognition details you ask us to publish are, by design, public.
6. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above:
- Purchase and transaction records (email, receipt/transaction identifiers, tier, amount) — retained as long as needed to provide access, honor the license, and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements.
- Correspondence — retained as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterward for reference.
- Patron recognition — displayed until you ask us to remove it or we retire the patrons page.
- Technical logs — retained for a limited period for security and operations. When we no longer need personal information, we delete or de-identify it, except where retention is required by law.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, and we rely on reputable providers (such as Stripe) for sensitive processing. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access / know — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Portability — request certain information in a portable format.
- Objection / restriction — object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, withdraw it at any time (this does not affect prior processing).
- Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Note on refunds: exercising a privacy right (such as deletion) does not entitle you to a refund; all sales are final under the Refund Policy.
9. International users
We operate from and store information in the United States (or wherever our providers operate). If you access the Site from outside the United States, you understand your information may be processed in countries whose data-protection laws differ from yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
